I need some type of inexpensive but safe way hold and label sorted coins. Given the quantity (~10,000 coins, 3/4 are dimes, nickels, and cents), cost is an issue.

Are polyethylene bags safe for this? Any specific brand recommendations?

I'm thinking ~2x3" (or smaller) would be a good size, preferably with a white area on the outside for labeling. I could put those in 2x2 boxes after sorting, with paper dividers stuck at appropriate places, like between dates.

I might get a smaller number better containers for coins that are more valuable-- air tights, mylar flips, whatever.

I'm looking at various suppliers-- Wizard, RioGrande, etc, and need to order them very soon so that I'll have them for my Christmas Coin Sorting Marathon

Your input and advice is appreciated.

You could buy 2by2s, sometimes they can only be 2 cents per 2by2. You would just have to find a good seller. Mylar can be 2 cents each - sometimes.

If the bags are actually polyethylene they should be fine.

ThisIsFun, try Whitman. You can get the 2x2 cardboard/Mylar holders, 100 for $3.99, in whatever size you need.
