Why is it that even when you offer buy-it-now as an option a potential bidder still waits until the last minute? Why not use buy-it-now to secure a win? I can understand waiting until the last minute for a regular auction but buy-it-now? Just seems odd... Edited by TheForce 04/06/2007 11:36 pm

I watch alot of the BIN auctions until the last ,, why pay more dollars to Buy it now if you can snipe it for less ?
Now that changes if I really want the coin or have been looking for sometime for an example ,, I will jump on a buy it now if the price is within reason .I have seen some really ridculous BIN prices .

I dont get it. You can still use BIN once a bid is placed on US ebay? On the Aussie ebay we lose the option to BIN once a bid is placed.

But what if the buy-it-now price is the same as the regular price? What logic is there to waiting then?

I see some auctions where the BIN stays up after bids are placed ,, but I do know that the option went away on my auction once a bid was placed ?

Often times I sell with the BIN as the same price as the regular auction starting price.

Im not sure why a bidder would not take advantage of the BIN in that instance ? I know if the value were in the item for the BIN I would . Metalman

Well snooba that makes sense ! and a perspective that I did not apply in my own thoughts.I guess I'm a different sort of buyer ,, if the Item has everything I'm looking for then I look no further.
you know the ole bird in hand male thing syndrome !

On coins I have never used a BIN
There are three types over here Pure BIN and no other choice ; they are mostly overpriced and unsaleble or too low a price and I think that are fishy things to get a person to buy without thinking or reading the text to be the first buying
Second type is a BIN combined with a very high starting price I see no sense in this strategy like 350 BIN and 340 normal auction start
Third type is the intresting BIN BIN at a reasonable price plus some 10% and auction starting at say 1 euro If I bid 1 euro the BIN disappears

I think that people wait on a BIN auction with the hope that the seller will lower the price if it hasn't sold by the last day. The seller has the option of lowering the price or making changes up until the last 12 hours of an auction. Personally, if I find something that I like and it has a BIN that I think is reasonable, I just buy it.
The reason that bids can be placed with the BIN still showing is that there is also a reserve on the auction. Until the reserve is met, the BIN will continue to be an option. Once the reserve is met, the BIN will disappear. On an auction without a reserve, the BIN will disappear as soon as a bid is made.
