CARIA, KINDYA AR TETROBOL / SEA MONSTER
Date: circa 510-480 BC
Diameter: 12.6 mm
Weight: 2 grams
Obverse: Head of Ketos (Cetus) sea monster left
Reverse: Latticework pattern in incuse
Reference: SNG Keckman 920
Other: A nice example with bold detail ... AEF/AEF

That's a very old Greek coin--it's squarely in the Archaic era!
I find the reverse very interesting--reminds me of Greek Geometric style too.

Yes, it is a pretty interesting coin, eh? (I really like the lattice on the reverse) ...

Bing => I'm "hoping" that I have the will-power to cruise-through Christmas without buying anymore coins ...

Wow steve you really do find some great coins! The sea monster alone is a great! With that rockin gometric reverse it is beyond fantastic!

Wow! I just have to chime in on this one. Steve, you've outdone yourself I do believe. Bear in mind I've only been around a month or so.

The geometric pattern on the reverse took my breath and the sea monster took me over the giddy edge.

This is my favorite era. The older the better. Now don't get me wrong, I've been known to salivate over late Roman coins. I'm just hooked, that's all there is about it and I'm having the time of my life.
