This might end up being a stupid question, but I've recently begun a US type set dansco album, and I can't remember which post, but I read about the album causing some weird toning on the coins. Then somebody said to put them in an Airtite holder and then in the album. After trying to do that to no avail, my question is, do you have to shave out part of the album to make them fit? Is it a special album? Special holder? I dunno, I just want to buy the best coins and keep them in the best shape. Any help appreciated.

Jer, That's not a stupid question. The US type set is an expensive collection, I agree some of the pieces would be better off in an air-tite holder. See attached link.

I've recently started a type set too. What I'm doing is using the Dansco 7070 as the basis for it, but not the album. The coins will be stored in their slabs for the slabbed ones & in Saflips or Airtites for the others.

Hi Jer.

The dansco 7070 album will not take air-tits as for toning I have never had a problem with any toning in a dansco album. The reason some people have a toning problem is there environment where they live here in AZ we do not have this problem. If you are using a dansco 7070 and the coins are to small for the holes here is a trick that Becky gave me, just cut a shim to go around the coin I USE 2X2 FLIPS works great,Not sure if this answers your question however someone else might need this info.

Not a stupid question at all. Sometimes a coin can tone, but like Bruce said, sometimes it depends where you live. The humidity in some places can really cause some toning on coins in albums. But of course, if a coin is in there for 20 years or so, then it is most likely to tone. I would recomend airtite holders to protect most of the coins. Good luck on the set! Are you doing it with or without the gold?

Thanks for the info. I was hoping there was a trick to combine the album and airtites, but I already knew the answer in the back of my head. The set I'm doing is minus gold...for now. Thanks again.
