Since the death of my grandfather I haven't even looked at my Dansco7070 album and not real sure I will ever finish it because I am just not enthused about it as I was when I could show him my progress and see the enjoyment on his face. I bought my first britannia coin at the Charlotte show not really because I wanted to collect them but just because I liked the design and the date was year 2000 which was when my daughter was born (we were looking for 2000 Panda's but couldn't find any). I have looked at the design's of these coins and I kind of like them all and since they are some dates that are really different from each other I won't get burnt out like I did with the Morgans (even though I still buy one from time to time when I go cherry picking on ebay)

Bryan, I'm so happy you are back (some what)..It will take time. My mom's first anniversary is nearing so I am in the same situation. It's difficult. As they say "time will heal" So.. we will be sharing the Britannia search together. The Morgan that you so generously gave me will also have a special memory for me in honor of you beloved grandfather. If it's OK with you. You are one ahead of me to acquire a Britannia. My first one will have to wait a bit. Good Luck. Hey, and let mey know where you find a good buy. God Bless, mila_

Bryan, I agree these are real nice. They look like proofs and reverse proofs, yes? I'm guessing they're similar in price to other 1oz pieces.

I haven't been able to take photos at a level of my satisfaction yet, but I do have a decent reverse shot of the Una and the Lion one. Once I get better shots of them I'll post them to my gallery. I just managed to get the 1999 one, but not in reverse proof...might have to try and get that one, its so nice in the reverse proof style, like Bryan's.

Also so we know did you get those from a online dealer or ebay if and online dealer who that way if it is not one I added we can add them to our list.

This year I have started adding 1oz silver coins from countries other than Australia and the US and have this years brittania coin. I like the designs of the coins pictured in this topic and will be on the hunt for at least the original design coins they bring out every 2 years. Really nice coins.

Those are some mighty fine looking coins you guys (in my area that includes ladies as well and is a non-sexist comment). Think I am feeling an itch to start collecting them as well (sorry to add to the competition), what is the first date in the series?

Any recommend dealers on ebay? I only found two on ebay, dealer across the pond, had some negs in feedback but overall looked fair, price was only about 6 dollars US with about 12 hours to go (and we all know how things change in the last 7 seconds due to bidding software). Anyone know any dealers over there personally that will ship to US without going on ebay?

I really like the silver one ounce bullion coins from all over the world. I have the new Australian silver Koala headed my way as it is the FIRST year of issue. I have a few Brittainia,s but absolutely cannot get over the current exchange rate into the British pound. There will be others added from time to time but the Eagle, the Kangaroo, the Panda and now the Koala come first.

Britannias are a black hole to me. Once sucked in, I will be unable to escape. Fortunately, so far I've avoided reaching the Event Horizon. I'm broke enough as it is.

There was technically a chariot design minted in 1997, but that's like the "test run" almost... (mintage 20000) try and find one for cheap online :P. So the real year is 1998, with the standard standing britannia design. All of mine were purchased on ebay for less than the 27$ being asked for by mint products... I wish I had purchased them when they were still selling them for 22$ -_-;. If you navigate through http://24carat.co.uk/ (there's no direct link to the page)... there is some nice info on the series.
