quote: They look like proofs and reverse proofs..
OK, you guys got me confused now. Are there 2 different (proofs and reverse proofs) (uncirculated?) What is the difference between the two? or three? Please clarify? Thanks, mila_

as far as I know the UNC. just looks like a reverse proofs. They are jsut a little ahead in the minting of Bullion coin then the US in my opion. that even if you look at the Australian Kangaroo or Kookurra, or even the Lunar coin or China Pnada they all kind of have that reverse proof look to them. I think the US finnaly saw what the rest of the world was doing with the silver dollar and finally made there own reverse proofs, But I am not sure if they make a accuall Proof Britanna I am sure they do just haven't seen them for sell. but I am sure that eh ones that collect all of them or how are more familar with them then me can anwser beter just telling what I think I just know that they look very nice

that is correct the BU coins are Reverse Proof to the US Mint because they are absolutely beautiful and I would put them up against the reverse proof's that the US Mint has came out with and if these things don't look like the US proofs to you I will buy you a coke. I actually like the BU's better than the proofs and they both sell for about the same price so I must not be the only one. The US proof coins cost double sometimes then their BU counterpart but not with these britannia's, both the proof and BU sell for about the same thing over the board and sometimes the BU's bring more money then the proofs

The BU coins aren't quite the same as the proof ones. Some of the designs look quite different in BU and proof strikes. For example, my BU 2001 and 2003 ones are mirror reflective, but the proofs are in fact reverse proofed. The proof ones are quite a bit more expensive as well... not surprisingly since their mintages are a lot lower. For example, the 2005 had a mintage of 100k in unc, but only 2500 in proof. For example, in this auction, you have an unc auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/2005-Low-Mintag...ia_W0QQitemZ250099547227QQcategoryZ538QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I can't find a silver proof auction, but they would be reverse proofed like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/England-Britann...ce_W0QQitemZ260102375207QQcategoryZ3408QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem except in silver, not gold. Forgot to add, they only have proof strikes for the alternate years when the design is not the standing britannia. the UNC standing britannias are reverse proofed already.

Aren't they beautiful! I haven't looked at mine in several weeks but I think I have them all with the exception of that very pricey first year of issue. It's hard to choose from ASE's, Maple Leafs, Lunar Coins, and Britannias. They are all so attractive. Now that Terry has mentioned the Koalas, I'll have to look into that. So many coins, so little money!

nice pickups, Bryan. You'll almost have all the designs soon...do you intend to pick up one for every year, or just have one example of the standing britannia?

Well you Guys have HOOKED another one. Sorry to say there's going to be more competition in the hunt for these fine pieces. Maybe this is in the wrong place, BUT anyone have any extra's they want to get rid of to start me out, I'm sure we can work something out. Do any of the TPG's grade and slab these pieces, that maybe something to see a MS70 or PF70

Very nice silver coins. Once I find a new job, I will treat myself with some of these.
