Where can I get $2 bills at face? From a bank? Do most banks have them?

Around Christmas time I got 50 from my local bank. All uncirculated and consecutive serial numbers.

I always get them from the bank.
I'm not really into banknotes, but every now and then I'll check, and at my bank they'll let me go through what they have at there stations,and/or ask the clerk next to them if they have any, if they don't.

What are you looking for?Check out our forum buy /sell/trade forum.Every now and again, someone posts for banknotes. They may have something you are interested in.

If you just want a few,I will check at my bank for you,and sell them to you at face value.

Good luck!!
:) sn31.

Most banks have them since people like to give them for gifts all the time. hehe except for my bank cause when ever we get them in I buy them up before the customers can get them.

I got them at the bank I used. They are used. But good for the kids to show them out. I got one 1976 note one day.

If you are willing to buy $2,000 worth, or a good portion there of, you can ask your bank to order a brick (I think they refer to it as a bundle, but it looks like a brick to me).

$2000 brick is little bit out of my range. Do you think they look good as wall paper?

I get about 30 or 40 2 dollar bills each time I go to my local bank. I use them to loan the tooth fairy when my daughter loses a tooth and use them for other activities like that, not to mention the new unsuspecting pimple faced teenager behind the counter at the stop and go stores or grocery stores in my area who look at you strange when you try to spend them

You can always tell them how many you are willing to take and ask very nicely if they would still order the Brick. You never know until you ask. The worst that can happen is they say NO.

I forgot to monitor this thread. Thanks, everybody, for your input. I'm with Monster -- I don't want any $2 bills bad enough to buy a couple grand worth. I'll ask at the bank next time. I actually forgot about it the last time I was in there, so I guess it's not real important to me.

Reading what Bryan1315 said about the looks he gets trying to spend $2 bills reminds me of an old joke I heard, probably at least45 years go. Something about a bumbling counterfeiter who printed a whole bunch of $18 bills. Made his accomplice very unhappy, but the guy decided to try to pass some of them anyway. He went to a little mom-and-pop store he knew of where the clerk was a dim-witted young man. He handed him an 18-dollar bill and asked if he could get change. The clerk stared at the bill, messing up his face in deep thought, and the crook began to think the kid was going to rat on him, but then the clerk said, "Well, did you want two nine-dollar bills, or three sixes?"

Sorry.

Whenever I cash a check for couple of hundred dollars or more the teller asks how I would like it. I always say, without hesitation, $2.00 bills. They are usually reaching into the drawer at this point and have to stop in their tracks. I get the weirdest looks, wry smiles, and sometimes a few dueces!

Your bank has cash drawers? It seems those are becoming a thing of the past. Many banks I've visited have an ATM like cash dispenser behind the counter that counts and dispenses the cash and the cashier just picks it up and hands it to me.

My local coin dealer usually gives me $2 Bills for change. Most people are not aware that they are still in circulation. Anyone else have dealers that do this?
