So.. I was doing more research today, this time into gold proof Pandas.

thing is, what I find are what they term their proofs as Medal coins. IN anycase, I wanted to ask on this site, has anyone collected these here?

ima trying to do research on the series and researching prices which seem to be all over the board.

so, anyone here into collecting china panda gold proof coins, or medals as they refer to them?

not "as they refer to them" It's western collectors that pushed the distinction between coins and medals on the Chinese. The first gold pandas (1982) did not carry a denomination until the western collectors complained that they needed it so that the medals can be categorized as coins.

Mostly stackers on this forum. Try the Chinese coins forum for experts on pandas

hey ima new here and getting back into collecting so that's just how it will be going forward, saying things incorrectly :D but thank you for the little bit of info.

that said I was not aware of a Chinese coin forum here! thanks!

I thought perhaps this was the best forum tho since in my research I come upon some who purchase just these proof/medal coins as investment because of the low mintage.

which I found out, man, theres not a lot about them, I have done some pricing research on ebay but its all over the place wow! man I learn something new about coins everyday! I love it!
