Interesting 1974 penny here. Coin is "gold" in color, however, on the obverse on the back of the Queen's crown, there is some damage which seems to reveal copper underneath. Coin is slightly bent and also has a smooth separation/gash in the rim which also seems to reveal copper.

Any insights for this coin?

Thanks!
Steve

I agree but can't seem to find a reference for this. I've never seen a penny in circulation with this rich color. Scans and photos don't show quite true.
