This sort of decoration isn't uncommon in Britain. I've sold many damaged coins at scrap to hobbyists making walking sticks. I wouldn't want them to do this to coins with a numismatic value. Mostly my friends bend whole coins round the stick and secure with pins around the rim, and put nails through already holed coins.

$500 seems more than overly optimistic to me, but perhaps it's a good Xmas present from someone whose billfold is too full to someone that has everything.

If it sells, I'll suggest ebay to them; at least one sells his sticks for charity.

Interesting, but not the type of thing I'd go after - especially at the requested price!

It does support my long-held belief, however, that, if you are patient enough, you'll eventually find just about everything being sold on ebay!
