Although I don't have any junk silver right now to sell, I have come across numerous lots on ebay which include coins that I need but other I don't. I was wondering what sort of prices one can get when selling junk silver. At my local shop you can buy at spot prices so what would likely be the sell price to them (75%). What about at a small coin show? Thanks for the help just wondering if it is worth my while even looking into lots with one coin and possibly selling the others I don't need.

Why would you want to sell silver, especially in this market, unless you need cash for serious expenses. Silver is going to break out of it's channel at some point, when the bullion banks lose control of the market. Silver is on sale now, so now's the time to buy by the bucketful. For solid market analysis and a friendly forum, much like this one. Warning though,it's not necessarily family friendly, since a foul word will show up from time to time and always in context.check out tfmetalsreport.com I have no commercial interest or connection with this website, whatsoever. I am a member of it's forum, in the very same manner as here at CCF. It's just a place of really bright, market tuned folks exchanging ideas and commentary as it relates to precious metals.

at a coin shop you would be lucky to get 30 % of coin value..Your best bet is to just re sell the coins you dont want on ebay

By no means do I mean I would sell silver right now, I agree it is a terrible time to sell; I am simply trying to determine what percentage of spot one gets when selling. You really can only sell scrap silver to dealers for 30% of spot and they sell at spot, if that is right I should reconsider my future career.

from my limited experiences here, I have heard that many places buy and spot minus 2-3xface and sell at spot plus 2-3x face. I myself hoard my junk and then trade it off usually for more premium stuff. you take a hit to amount of ounces but you keep your costs down on the premium stuff. There are always people looking to buy junk silver here such as myself. though if you are talking about Canadian 80%... a lot of people will look to buy under spot. Don't worry about selling at lower spot prices if you are buying at those prices too. There is no difference if selling at 27 spot if you are buying at 27 spot than if you were selling at 40 and buying at 40. Play the markets both ways. Just heavier when you know the prices are down. Use the junk to your advantage when spot is down to add to the stack and shape it as you see fit.

Here's an indication of what you can expect to receive for your junk silver, about 92% of melt.My local dealer pays 90%.I often buy lots, keep the good stuff and sell the rest for melt. It's not worth the hassle to sell junk silver on ebay.

Honest LCS's pay much more then 30% of spot. When melt was $11.75 for half dollars the store I was at bought a roll for $10.75 each. They know the turnover is fast on 90%.
