Why is the value of this particular example of the Sac so high in value? The Red-Book value is $100; the next closest is $20. I don't get it.

Partially low mintage proof set and supply and demand. ebay solds range from $35-$113.50 in slabs for Pf69 D.Cam.

Hope this helps.

Well, one of the reasons I would think is not as many dealers and all ordered the 2001 proof set, because they didn't think they would sell. So, when people wanted them, the dealers didn't have them to sell. Which caused a demand, which I think pushes the price up. The larger the demand, the larger the price. But that is only my opinion on it all.

Supply and demand sounds nice, but if it is true it is surprising that it is that sensitive, because the difference in mintage between the expensive 2001-S Sac, and the next rarest issue at $20, is less than 40,000 coins. (3,183,740 for the 2001-S, 3,211,995 for 2002-S, a difference of 28,255 coins.)
