It looks like the planchet was laminated.....er wait.. That sounds funny.....looks like the planched delaminated :) (by the TY) before it was struck....hmmm...but the top part of it would have been pushed flat frim the high pressure strike...sooooo I don't know..lol

I think Jayman's right. Some of the lamination struck flat at strike.
