The ophthalmic industry meets the the numismatist!

This stuff is called "lens liner". It's standard use is for a prescription lens that was edged a bit too small to fit into an eyeglass frame. Concaved so it seats itself snugly between the bevel of the lens and the frame.

I don't know what type of plastic that this stuff is made of. I don't own expensive coins, so I'm not very concerned. I'm simply happy that I can remove the slide and turn the page without having the coins fall out.

Merry Christmas folks! Just thought I'd share.

Good idea at first impression. But I would be concerned if it's archival safe and PVC free.

I love it!

I will have to check with my sources.

Testing for PVC containing plasticizers should be easy.

thats pretty cool as long as it doesn't contain PVC. I always cut shims out of the 2x2 mylar flips to shim the coins that are smaller than the holes in my album

Based on this suggestion, I ordered a roll of this. My Canada type set is in three separate Dansco albums, the third album being for halves and dollars using blank mm pages. The only coins that fit well are the loonies, the halves and older dollars kind of roll around in their holes. Spent a half hour yesterday putting this stuff in and I am exstatic over how well it works, and is completely unnoticable.
Kudos to scotty11!
