I can't help but notice how the online auction sites has these coins for sale at crazy prices. Is this realistic? Are people actually buying WAM cents, particularly the 1999 year, for these prices?

With that mentioned, I will go on to say that I haven't pulled any WAM from my boxes for almost 2 years now. There was a time I would find them fairly often. Not anymore.

I suppose what I'm actually asking is whether or not anyone has bought a WAM recently. And if so, how much did you pay? What grade was it? And in general, what are other peoples thoughts on this variety?

Thanks for your post Maineman750. There doesn't seem to be much interest in this topic. Perhaps this variety is falling out of favor?

The 99 is the key WAM. I have found a few 98's and 2000's but not in a very long time.

I usually get $5.00 for an Unc. red 2000
$10.00 for the same grade/color on a 98.
Never found a 99.
Guess they would have to be gem grade range for a nice
premium. But a BU or Unc. red is worthwhile to have slabbed
also. Hey, not a bad yield for spending one cent.
These coins in Unc. red are becoming far and fewer in between.
The longer a zincoln remains in circ. the worse it gets and quickly. Keep all you can find in nice condition. They will pay off down the road.
