This is a Wheat penny with 19 clearly showing followed by a number that can not be read and no fourth number. Is this a true error or a mistake caused by grease in the die? What would it be worth?

Last digit seems scraped {PMD), probably affecting the 2nd digit, as well.

After checking this coin at a 500% zoom level, it looks like the last digit was a zero and pushed up (you can also see the scrape indent).

How would that happen or why would someone do that? I purchased it for a dollar and it was listed as an error, but I had a feeling an error would've gone for more. So maybe that's a fake error? I just liked the novelty of it!

Sounds like you are assuming it was done intentionally. Coins get accidentally damaged every day.

True. It's an interesting defect at least!

to CCF Lenore411. It is PMD (post mint damage). How it happened is anyone's guess. John1

The mark goes parallel with the rim...I will say it from a coin rolling machine. Wheat Dates have a higher profile than newer cents. I think it met the guillotine...
