http://www.ebay.com/itm/united-stat...70963396068&Is this real? When I saw the CC on the reverse I literally dropped my soda... <edit> I looked again and saw that they're in China. I'd bet all of their stuff is fake. They do say it's cupronickel. <edit> Edited by The Silver Searcher 12/29/2012 3:38 pm

Aha! So if anyone complains that it's not silver, they have a defense! Tricky little scammers...

Except as per ebay rules, it's a counterfeit and not legal. It'll be gone soon.

Maybe I missed something but why did you drop your soda when seeing the CC mint mark?

I had been watching another from this seller, and when it went for almost $15 below melt (if it was silver.) I saw this one and checked it out. I was really surprised to see a CC mark because I expected a mediocre 1878, not one that I actually need for my collection.

It's not listed as a coin. Does this skirt the system?

Quote: It's not listed as a coin. Does this skirt the system? No, because the definition of "counterfeit" is from US Statute, and ebay has chosen not to allow sales of items which meet that legal definition.

There are at least a few reputable sellers from China, but I prefer buying on ebay.com

Quote: There are at least a few reputable sellers from China True but you can say that about anything. Like error rolls some of them are legit but the majority are not and impossible to tell so its best to just stay away from them all
