This set of "Claresholm Twoonies" was created by the Claresholm Chamber of Commerce (my hometown) to celebrate important events in our communities history. The CPR established a station on its Macleod-Calgary branch, being named 'Clare's Holm' by John Niblock after his residence in Medicine Hat(belonging to him and his second wife Clare Attwood) Top coin- 1903 year of incorporation as a village. View of main street Claresholm. Reverse- The Canadian Pacific Railway and iconic water tower. Left coin- 1905-2005 centennial of Claresholm becoming a Town. View, 'Where the Wheatlands Meet The Range' Reverse- Old train station (now a museum), grain elevators, and the water tower. Right coin- 2000 celebrating the new millennium, Claresholm is home to Louise McKinney one of the 'Famous 5' women who won suffrage for women in Alberta. View of the old CPR train station, now a museum Reverse- The Havard Memorial, erected to commemorate Claresholm's war effort as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Program. Thousands of British, Canadian, and Americans received training to fight in WWII while stationed here. Sorry for the poor pictures! I haven't figured out the best way yet. I hope some people find this interesting, it is a very special set to me, always reminding me where home is. Post your town's trade tokens if you have any!

Your ancestor was the first mayor? That's really cool, are you an Albertan? I wonder what William Moffat would think of the town that has grown to 4,000 people
I could be mistaken but I believe the author of this essay 'E R Patterson' was Mayor while I grew up there, I won't post names for his privacy.

My Ancestor was the first mayor I have recently moved away from Alberta. Both a good and a bad thing... I miss the skiing, but am glad that it isn't as cold here (I hate the -40's and -50's!) He is a former mayor, which is why I link the above link. My Grandmother thinks it is amazing that the town has grown to 4 thousand people. If I remember correctly, she remembers seeing William when she was young.

I guess you could call this one a 'mule' or 'prototype' It says village instead of town and has a gold ring

That's amazing. I'm not familiar with them and floored at the price... Do you know why it went for so much?
