What would be funny is if the seller started spending money on credit thinking s/he had $50,000 coming his/her way. Either way the seller has been informed that the listing is not ethical.

Good news.. It would have been nice to see the auction raging out of control, up into tens of thousands before it was pulled. I have a question for those that sell coins on ebay. Would the seller of this auction have seen my $50K bid or not?

No. You're the only one who sees your max bid unless somebody else bids high enough to 'expose' it.

Two things, he knows who the high bidder was and has your login name and if he looks at the cancelled bids the high bid was 50 grand it wouldn't take much for him to figure you put in the bid.
As a matter of fact any of us that put in a bid he has our name and can see how much we bid.

As a very unknowledgable coin collector, and new eBayer, I am very grateful to the members on this forum for their efforts to educate those of us in need and to help eradicate unscrupulous sellers. Great stuff, you guys & gals rock!

I fail to see how it's against the rules to sell, unless he is misrepresenting it as solid gold. A token is fair game for sale on ebay.

There is still an ad for this coin. There is the exact same photos posted on kijiji in Toronto as well. On the kijiji ad, it is identified as gold plated and not an actual $20 gold coin from1967. It is larger as well.
