So I have my 1 week old daughter at my side... she's sleeping... I'm watching the figure skating at the olympics... and thinking to myself... "Geeze I'm bored what can I do?" So I dig into my box of penny rolls and see if I can find something interesting... Well WHAM BAM and ALAHKAZAM! In the first roll I think I scored my all time best find.. When I slid out all the coins it just didn't look right right off the hop.. it was like there was a gap in the middle of the roll... No gap... just sitting in the middle of all the pennies was a VF 1954 dime... Okay so that whole roll has just paid for itself.. but lady luck decided to shine down on me once again. I end up pulling out 12 George VI's one wheaty and the all time kicker one 1905 indian head u.s. small cent. I got this roll and approx $100 F.V. more from a penny drive fundraiser... I now can't WAIT to go through the rest of them to see what other interesting gems I may find... Good thing with my new daughter I won't be getting much sleep anyways... now I know what I'm going to do on the late nights up..

Wow that's pretty cool! I wouldn't be sleeping until I went through the rest of them.

Nope.. not sleeping now!
quickly have gone through 10 rolls.. I'm averaging 9 KGVI's per roll and I also found a '67 dime in another roll... so almost every 5 rolls one dime.. LOL ... This has been a fun night !

I have found dimes in cent rolls before too, just wondering why anyone would fill a roll with a dime. Good finds you are getting.

this may sound stupid as I've been mostly attracted to NCLT coins so far, but what is a Wheat penny? you can see that everywhere! I got so many coin just sitting in a jar, but I have no idea what to look for in each denomination... I know the pre- 67 are silver, but that's pretty much it. makes it so discouraging when I look at my pile of coins!

I still remember the 1st time I found a wheatie CRH'ing... but finding an indian's head... That has me soo pumped...
I ended up doing just a touch over 30 rolls last night... and pulled in just shy of 200 KGVI pennies... a few KGV's the one wheatie & two dimes... overall this source of pennies had to have been tucked away in someone's closet for a LONG LONG time untouched...

Congrats on the little one,go through your rolls now cause in a couple years the collection might see some neglect and when it comes out your little helper will want to help (code for play and hide)

Hahahha it's soo true... I already have a 2 yr old.. and when I bring out some of my coins he just shouts out COINS! and loves going through them with me... When I'm CRH'ing pennies that just makes my day seeing how much time he just likes spending with "dad".
Although I do agree... there will be a time probably not too far away where most of the coins will have to be put in a really good safe place.. and this hobby for me will be limited to "buy & put away"....
Bill thank you for your kind words...

Nice finds! I find the occasional dime in penny rolls but a silver dime or an IHC is a rare find indeed. Feel free to post your finds in our Canadian Coin Roll Hunting thread here on the site. You may enjoy seeing what others have found.

Awesome finds. Do you need help with those rolls?! :) One of my coolest (and strangest) U.S. finds was a 1982-S proof Lincoln Cent in a Canadian roll! I found a 1943 steelie one time too, and according to the high-volume roll-hunters down south, they are rarer than IHC in American rolls. I have never found an IHC though.
