Anyone from Philadelphia/Delaware South Jersey area here? Looking for recommendations on coin places. Thank you!

My great-great-grandfather was a Philadelphian, but went in search of gold in 1849.

She must not have had a compass or a map to have ended up in "OZ". . Just chiming in to see what type of info on places he's looking for. You mean Brick & Mortar stores?

If in Delaware, try Airport coins on Kirkwood highway. Nice selection of a bunch of different types of coins and supplies and currency.

"Coin places?" You mean other than the US Mint and the Federal Reserve Money Museum?

Well, I'm just outside Atlantic City, the forum owners are in Delaware, and philadelphian isn't exactly from Phoenix.

I've only got one decent shop in my area. I'll ping Bobby/Susan to see if they have any recommendations.

And please be a little more specific with your thread titles - this will be the second one I'll be editing for clarity.

Apparently, the days when Philadelphia was the absolute center of the nation for all coin dealing are long over. There are B+M coin shops, but they pale in comparison to the 19th century dealers, who could corrupt Mint employees to "restrike" 1804 Bust dollars for them!

First State Coin and Sports Cards is a B&M store on Forrest Ave (Route 8) in Dover, DE. I have had a fair number of dealings with them and always recommend them when someone asks for a brick-and-mortar store in this area.

There was a small coin shop on Washington Street in Mt. Holly, NJ. It was there for many, many years. I actually used to work at the Crossroads Runaway Shelter which is right next door/above them back in the mid 1980's. I think the ownership changed hands in early 2000's, though. I met the new owner and he was very young and seemed more interested in getting sports cards and memorabilia for sale, so I don't know if they even still sell coins.

There are a couple small-time coin dealers in the Berlin Mart in Berlin, NJ. They mostly deal in modern coins and I felt that their prices were high the last time I looked there, which was probably around 5 or so years ago.

During the warm months, you can often find coin dealers setting up outside at the marts/flea markets. There was a really good guy at the Route 70 flea market. He had great prices, was very honest, and was set up there every week back when I was going there in the mid 2000's.

I think it's always a good idea to check outside vendors. Last I knew, the Pennsauken flea market was setting up at the old drive-in up in the Palmyra area on Rt. 73.

Hope this gives you a starting place.

I meant bricks and mortar yes. I usually use auctions, and one in particular that I can't spoil secrets. but when not and looking for a shop I wanted some ideas. Any thoughts on Wayne coins, the coin shop in media, pitman coins in NJ, etc? My absolute two favorite coin guys, West Reading precious metals who is about the nicest guy I have worked with. The other is kind of hidden in Booth's Corner farmers market in Boothwyn PA. But since reading is far, and the farmers market is only open two days a week....

I have been to airport coin shop in Elmsmere and I think their prices are awful!! The one in Dover I was at once and that seemed like a good place but a bit far. Any other good ones no one has meantioned in Philly/Delaware county/ chester county/ S. Jersey?
