When early copper coins have corrosion, does the condition get worse over time?
Copper corrosion, aka verdigris, requires feed materials in order to grow. Take away feed materials and the corrosion process will essentially halt.
The safest approach for coins is to dehydrate them with acetone and put them in an airtite. Then add a couple more layers of protection like ziplocks and tupperware and the coin will last for centuries IMO.
