I have this 1943 D steel cent, and it appears that there are traces of copper on the reverse.I would appreciate any help in determining whether or not this is the case. Pictures of the obverse are horrible.
I'm going to have to agree with IndianGoldEagle that it's rust. Unless someone says otherwise. Would be a pleasent find if was copper. Not the best looking coin, but a surprise if it did turn out to be copper.
It was kept in a penny a day church sheet that my grandfather had. I'm still guessing that it could be rust even if it was kept in one of those for so long.
