kind of why I was asking, I don't want to get cut off, or get to where they are going to charge me, unless I was halves and there was some silver in every box

I spread my purchases over as many different US Bank branches as I can. I pick up one bag of nickels and one bag of pennies at a time, so not much. Just last week I was told for the first time that there would be a $5.00 fee per bag because I am not a business customer. I told them no thanks on the bags, and went to a different branch nearby and got them with no fee. Seems I have been lucky so far with the fee, and also not buying too much at a time. Plus, I am buying from their stock, they don't order them specifically for me, so that may help.

Getting coins from banks around me is almost impossible. Unless you want to pay $5 per box. Even if I was willing to pay $5 per box I am sure they would raise that to $10 after a few boxes... Basically they are saying get out of here..
I was recently getting boxes from a bank I have a loan at. When I got my first box there wasn't an issue. They were very friendly in fact. I only asked for them to order about 6 boxes total for me over a 4 month stretch and that was enough for them to effectively cut me off. $5 a box is now my cost, so I will not be getting them there. I had other banks that have taken the same policy, I really can't get coins anymore. I may have to spend the time I used to use on CRH to work on filling my type set. Or more time with the family!
I hear about the quantities of coins some are able to get and I think that it sounds unrealistic to me.. One advantage they may have is that they may be living in a larger area with more bank branches. More banks, more options, more competition between banks...
The end of coin roll hunting has come.. RIP..

.....and right there is the reason banks are starting to charge fees.

those looks like penny boxes, that would be a bunch of marking if so.

Quote: I bet you paint or mark the coins too. Wrong. Not all volume hunters believe in marking... I dump marked plated coins with my dumps, one per bag... already destroyed coins. Quote: those looks like penny boxes, that would be a bunch of marking if so. What? You must have weird cent boxes where you come from. They're half dollar boxes.

I've never been charged a fee to order, and I also have banks in my area that will order for me even though I have no account there. When a teller says "it costs us (fill in the blank amount) to order coin for a customer", I take that with a grain of salt, and that same tellers says, "the coins come from the Fed" lol. You can ask a teller in any bank, you won't get a truthful answer. My wife has been in the banking industry for years as teller, loan officer, and she also handles the vault reception and shipping of coin. I asked her "what is the actual cost to order coin/currency", she had no idea and said corporate handles that.

I order 2 boxes of nickels and 2 boxes of halves once a week with US Bank and they don't charge me. I have an account there if that matters.
