Hi;
I have a friend who's husband recently passed that had collected a few coins. None seem to be of any value and I don't expect this is either, but she would like to know what it my be. There are a few other oddballs as well. Anybody recognize it? The object on the left obviously.
Thanks,
Lloyd

Looks to be Ancient Roman...

But either Heavily Cleaned or Fake (I have troubles discerning which, so I'll let one of the experienced ancient coin collectors say)

And to CCF!

This is a Roman Provincial coin from Alexandria Egypt, it is a Tetradrachm. I believe the emperor is Severus Alexander but I'm not 100% on the ID. It is legit.

It is indeed real and a Roman Provincial coin from Alexandria Egypt.

The Emperor on the coin is Diocletian, the legend reads:

A K GOY Λ ΛIOKΛHIANOC CЄB

(had to change some of the Greek characters as the forum does not support them)

The reverse has the letter 'B' on it signifying the coin was made in Diocletians second year of reign. This dates the coin to 285-286AD.

Interesting and 1727 years old but not hugely rare unfortunately, maybe a $20 coin on ebay.
