Hah, mysilveryears!
I did not know that there was a club!
Well, my participation must include a contribution to future generations, and
your suggestions are sought. Such as from Ddave and jeffrose so far.
After all, although it is fun to possess a coin, there is more fun to be had in teaching about it.
But FIRST, I have to learn myself!

To philadelphian,
Vinny, the dealer, walked up to me. He said, "Don't be afraid. HOLD it in your hand!"
He forced it into my hand. I held it, and I fell in love.
When back at his table we did the negotiation. Coin, raw, in a felt-lined tray. Just the way it used to be
many years ago.
To be sure, in a plastic flip. But easily taken out to be held ... caressed?
If there is a club, and I am in the least bit worthy to be a member, I consider it an honor!

But OH MY! The air is rather thin in this upper atmosphere!

I'd grade it VF details-obverse graffiti.

Graffiti?! Maybe some minor scratches and contact marks, but "consistent with the grade," I'd say!

Unless I'm seeing things, I see an x, a vertical scratch and 3 parallel scratches in front of Lady liberty's face as well as an eliptical scratch behind Lady Liberty's head. Based on the numerous Bust Dollars I have and have seen, I can't imagine NGC nor PCGS ignoring them.

matthew- If there wasn't a club we can start one. Looks like we already have enough for a quorum.

I didn't realize they did the lettering like that on those dollars. Kind of fancy!

What do you mean? Lettering like what?

OO, OO! mysilveryears, may I suggest a motto?

"Bust out of you slabs, ladies, and be free."

I had to sleep on g048406's observation about graffiti. This morning I went searching for a major TPG coin in VF-20.
I found this one: Attribution-Sought:-1799-Bust-Dollar
And mine again:
Attribution-Sought:-1799-Bust-Dollar
The difference in price between the two is $50.
The ebay link is:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1799-Draped...15&prg=1006%

Despite the file adjustment marks between the "E" and "R" in Liberty, and the scratches on the left hand side, from your viewpoint, this coin received a no problem grade.

Well, that put my mind at rest.
And as this appears to be an older holder, the grading standards were stricter back then.

Just for fun, I found this not ten minutes after I committed to buy the dollar:
Attribution-Sought:-1799-Bust-Dollar

Besides the reeded edge, the "coin" is laughable. My brother-in-law, who knows nothing about coins, was able to point out close to a dozen discrepancies between it and a genuine example. Side by side with the genuine example it makes a lovely educational tool.
The fake has a diameter less than the genuine that can be seen with the naked eye.

That's all for now. I'll want to explore the die crack next.
Thank you all for your help.

Note to Condor101,
Piggy ran under the bed and refuses to come out.

Let's get this straight now; we seem to have started two different clubs, here:
The 1799 Draped Bust Dollar Owners Club, and
The Raw Draped Bust Dollar Owners Club
Please specify to which club you are applying for membership. Matthew, of course, joined both in one shot!
Mine just gets me in the RDBDOC:
