Rod does not have a coin shop, he operates at the monthly RA centre show, and does a handful of flea markets around the greater Ottawa valley.

Rod is the best contact I have found since I have started my venture into the coin/paper money world. Never a dull moment when you roll into his house. You will get an eye full (and ear full :) ) on all kinds of things from your coins and notes as well as whatever else he has come across. I actually just came back from his house again this evening, treated me to a pot of his Cajun shrimp over pilaf.....Great guy. Question for SPP: Do you know where I can find a loop with either 5x or 10x? Called universal and Alliance, both dont have any. Universal is now carrying the rectangular magnifiers and Sean didnt specify. I dont ebay, so any lead to where in town would be helpful. Thanks

I order mine from here (since I am a geologist): http://www.irl.bc.ca/miningexplorat...gnifiers.htmSpring the extra cash for the IWAMOTO 10x lens, you won't be disappointed. If you are a member of the Ottawa Coin Club, I can put in a decent 10x hand lens in the silent auction for this month's meeting....

In 2006 I used to pay $1 us dollar per canadian paper dollar. and $5 for the older notes(1937) and fractionals from a seattle coin shop.

I thought I would share the banknotes that I picked up over the holiday season. A former co-worker who has been collecting for the last 35 years is getting rid of most of his collection to start buying silver bullion. All the "good stuff" he told me has all ready been sold to dealers. The stuff he sold to me was on the way to the bank to be cashed in. Glad I talked to him before he made it to the bank, this time. He informed me that he had already cashed in over $3000 of bank and mint rolls (coins) dating back over 20 year. $583 in banknotes. Paid face value.

Thanks AZTAMT. I am not a collector of banknotes so I will probably put this one up on the bay and see how it does.
Anyone know what a 1954 $50 banknote is worth in VF condition?
