There's a guy on ebay offering examples which do not appear to have an aperture adjustment, at a very reasonable price. Was this version designed to work with an external aperture adjustment?

No, it is a fixed-aperture version of the lens designed for scanners. The aperture is fixed wide-open at f4. Sort of like the Rodenstock Scitex S3 or the Kyocera E36C series.

Well, we're going to find out how good it is as soon as I find a thread adapter.

You just need a helicoil type like this to mount to your Triple Track:

It'll have to wait until after the FUN show. My only worry is sufficient depth of field.

Elements are the same as the standard lens, just with solid machined housing similar to my Rodenstock Scitex lenses. There is a small aperture stop machined into the housing but I am not sure it's any smaller than the standard lens wide open. It might be, say f4.5 instead of f4 but I'd have to measure it. I think it's a good alternative lens if folks don't take a lot of pics and are able to stack, as it will definitely require stacking on Cents. Dollars look OK without stacking.
