never ran across a real one or even whtever this is so I dont really know what to look for to tell. Any help? I put another dime inside the radius of the coin in question and the radius matches if that means anything.

I am by no means an error expert - I would wait to see who else chimes in before you toss it!

EDIT:; Just saw you are going to keep it...

PMD for sure.
Had this been a genuine indent error coin, the indent would either exhibit no detail if struck with a blank planchet, or a brockage if struck with a previously struck coin.
The PUP (pick up point) on your coin is the "ES O" from "STATES OF" inside the indent.
