This is the coin that was minted through most of the Tang Dynasty, which was about 300 years. According to what I've been reading, there was a lot of regulations concerning the minting of these coins. Including forbidding citizens from minting coins. Penalty was execution.
Well, this is the very last coin I purchased. I am waiting for them to come in the mail next week sometime, hopefully.
I eagerly await to see you next Chinese coins. This is such a vast series of coins, and to the untrained eye they all look similar across thousands of years. Neat background information.
