I know a lot of topics about ICG exist, and I know a link of what I am wanting has been posted somewhere before. (I believe by coppercoins) But I can't find it anywhere. It was a site explaining the different ICG slabs and which are more likely to be graded accurately going by the slab generation. If someone could post that link I would very much appreciate it. If it wasn't coppercoins who posted it the time I saw it, then I am sorry for not remembering who did.

Interesting question. I know such a history exists for PCI - essentially, everything up to PCI 3 here is reasonably trustworthy, and nothing else:

....but I don't know about ICG.

I would be surprised if a discussion of ICG generations exists anywhere on the net. I'm about the only person who really tracks slab generations and I have never posted one. I've done NGC and PCGS, and once I did a partial one of ANACS, but I have never done ICG.

ICG has had fewer generations of holders than any of the other major services. I believe I can only account for about seven or eight generations and issue dates are still sketchy.

ICG 1
Green labels front and back. On the front it has small serial number above the barcode. Hologram on the back is large with almost five rows and five columns of ICG and logo. 1998 to 2000

ICG 1.1 This was used for varieties. Green labels front and back. No barcode either side, serial number on back. Hologram as on ICG 1. 1998 to 2000

ICG 1.5 This is a transitional variety. Like ICG 1 but hologram is now smaller being three rows of five columns. Mid 2000 - Aug 2000

ICG 1.7 Another transitional variety. Like ICG 1.5 but bottom quarter of back label is now a white bar. Mid 2000 to Aug 2000

ICG 2 Like ICG 1.7 but barcode is now repeated on white bar on the back label. August 2000 to 2007

ICG 3 Like ICG 2 but with black Intercept Shield insert around coin. Started around December 2000 til ?

ICG 4 Like ICG 2 but hologram is now four rows by almost five columns. 2007 to 2009

ICG 5 Serial number and barcode removed from front label. Back like ICG 2 but serial number added in green field. 2009 to 2012?

ICG 6 Hologram has been changed. It is now a small repeating background design with a single large ICG in a circle over the whole hologram. 2012 to date.

I've never heard any discussion about ICG being tighter or looser during any particular generation period as we have with NGC or PCGS with the exception that ICG had a reputation for being generous with the 70 grade during their early years. I would be skeptical of any 69 or 70 in generations 1 through 3. (The period of NGC and PCGS's reputation of being conservative on their old holders was from before ICG existed.)

I don't know how long we can edit these posts so I may come back and add pictures later either in this post, later in the thread, or I may just do a separate thread.
