I hate to be the one to say this but I think the smackdowns are getting a little old. They have become too specialized. Maybe we should think about going back to being more general, ie, favorite emperor, denarius, AS, etc.. I enjoy the smackdowns and as long as I have a coin to fit the subject I will enter, however we have a large number of new collectors that don't have as many coins as some of us that haven't been able to enter. I would like to see them enter more coins. Just my Two Cents worth.

Gee, I'm surprised that no one has commented on my last post. I would have thought someone would have chimed in and agreed or disagreed. Oh well.

Echizento, I was going to chime in - but I have no consensus on it in my head. I like these specific things, but I recognise that people dont have the coins.
I think alternating with easy topics and hard ones could be good.

I just got home from the FUN show and haven't been following many posts while I was away. This is the first SD I have not entered, but there is a personal reason for this. Not because the SD's are getting old. I love the SD format, but perhaps ski is right. Maybe too speacialized. Too narrow subject matter. I dunno, but I certainly would love to see the SD format continue. Besides, it's x6's legacy. Hey Jerry.

I actually think this one has wider subject matter than some smackdowns because it's designed to span specific time periods, regions, and coin types. But for me, this one's going to be challenging to vote on because the comparisons are more qualitative than quantitative. I like the idea and know it's hard to come up with new ones for these smackdowns. The one time I took on the challenge, I would've been stumped if it weren't for some member comments I saw.

Apologies for not entering, I lost all my photos and all my attribution info when a laptop died a few months ago, I cant even remember everything I have!
Posting means finding a coin, re-attributing (mine was all recorded digitally) and re-photographing (unless I can url link to an old hosted pic on here), sometimes I don't have the time or the energy, sorry.
