So we had complimentary pairs before but this time we will have pairs which are very different from eachother.
5 points bonus if the coin was aquired in the last year!
2 points if they are made from different metals!
2 points if they have more than 400 years between them!
2 points if the are from different catagories! (roman/greek/byzantine/china etc)
2 points if their sizes are more than 10mm different!
We are voting for who submits the most alluring pair...maybe one will blow you away more than the other but please vote for each contestant rather than for individual coins.
As is traditional I will post first as an example though I will be exempt.

A "Turkoman figural bronze". AE 29, 13.34 grams. Struck 1193 AD by Husam al-din Yuluq Arslan, an Urtuqid of Mardin. (The city of Mardin is now in southeastern Turkey, very near Syria.) Four full-length figures in different postures, middle one with a large head in attitude of dejection. Said to depict the mourning of the death of Saladin. In contrast to an AR17 siliqua (1.50 grams) of Magnus Maximus, struck summer 387 - 28 August 388 at Milan. Both were bought in 2012. They are made from different metals with more than 400 years between them, from different categories (Arabic/Roman), and more than 10 mm different in size.

Since I don't do competitions I guess I should not give opinions but I'd require/reward something that would make the two a pair in some way even though the two difffered in all those bonus point ways. For example, the coin below paired with David UK's wonderful Byzantine would get all the same bonus points for size, date and metal but they share a big link: Kyzikos mint.

Not a bad idea Doug but since there have already been submissions I don't want to move the goalposts... also there are plenty of bonus points available as is.
If your coins have a coomon link or theme point it out though ^^
Entries in before midnight GMT on saturday please :)
Interesting choices so far ^^

Two coins that I have that contrast the most is from the destruction of the Islamic Empire of Khwarezm, by the Nomadic Mongols lead by The Great Conquer of Asia Genghis Khan. Both coins are very rare. The first naming the Shah of Khwarezm and the second naming Genghis Khan. Both coins are very different in style and Calligraphy. Both are of different metals. One coin comes from the end of an era and the other from the beginning of the new one. The second was struck just after the first, the second continued in circulation until the death of Genghis Khan. Both were bought in 2012 Both are of different metals Both are of very different sizes POINTS POINTS POINTS Coin #1 Khwarezm Imperial Dirham 31mm X 7.45 grams. A very large coin demostrating the power and sophistication of the The Empire of Khwarezm. Naming the Sultan of the Empire. Struck. 1200-1206 AD OBV.Al-Sultan in the center, Mohamed and additional inscriptions (al-Sultan al-azam... the rest unread) in the margins REV. Mohamed Bin Takesh in a monogram in the center, additional inscriptions (presumably mint and date) in the margins. Mint of Balkh, Afghanistan. REF. MWOI 910. Coin#2 Billon Jital of Temujin (The Great Genghis Khan) 17mm x 4.28 grams A very small and thick coin naming Genghis Khan and his Puppet Wazir used inside and outside the confines of the destroyed Khwarezm cities. Struck 1206-1227 OBV. Al-Nasir Ud-din Allah amir al-muminin REV. Adl Khaqan al-Azam (coin of the Great Khan) Mint of Ghazna, Afghanistan REF: Tye 329; SICA 9, 1008; Nyamaa 5; Album 1969.

I have been noticing on a couple of entrant one coin was purchased in the last 12 months and the other was not. In these cases I guess 2 bonus points are in order rather than 5 (which I meant if both coins were inside 12 months, but I wrote it unclearly and ungrammatically)
