Recently, I've been searching a couple thousand of my copper pennies (yes, I hoard them), and I noticed I have quite a few of them that have filled mintmarks, especially with the Denver mintmarks. I was wondering if they have any value/ if anybody collects them. Also, does everyone hoard the 1970S cents, because I have found remarkably few of them in my rolls, when checking for varieties. I haven't found any varieties yet, but I'm still looking for my first! Well, I found a 1979 that looks like the last 9 is a little different, but I haven't decided if it's PMD or not. I might post a pic if I decide it's suspicious enough.

Filled mintmarks and digits generally have no extra value.

The 1970S small date is a scarce coin...A lot of these coins are kept I think, and are not really small date coins....

A long time ago I thought filled in letters and numbers on coins were errors worth saving. Eventually I found it they really were worth a lot, I'd be rich. Sort of a common error. As to the 70S, yes lots of people save them. Not really knowing if large or small date, people save them all just in case.

I keep all the S mint cents I find, which are pretty scarce here on the east coast. But then again I keep all copper cents regardless of mint mark...

Hello,

...that have filled mintmarks,...

Can you upload a photo of what you personally are classifying as a 'filled' mint mark?

I just want to ensure that we are all on the same page.

thanks,

Interesting that you posted this. I just found a 1982 D over S mintmarked Lincoln and a 1983 D over D. I went online but couldn't find these listed. Unfortunately, the coins are not in great shape.
