Hello.
I'm posting this one for my dad because I'm honestly too lazy right now to look it up. Lol. He has three uncirculated bicentennial coins, (The Dollar, Half Dollar, And Quarter).
Was just wondering if having all three in separate holders uncirculated would get him any decent amount of money? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

-Zack

If silver [that is, S mint], they're worth melt (something on the order of $20ish).
If not silver... I've no idea, but probably much less than that (I'd say $5 but could easily be less).
Sorry.

Unless they are high grade they are not worth a lot. A lot of people saved them so there are a lot of them out there in Unc condition.

I see these all the time at auction the average price is about $12-$15. But that is if they are in OGP ( original government packaging ) The coins themselves are common. So outside of the OGP they are worth melt value.

It depends on which coins they are. And this all is based on the presumption that when you say uncirculated, they are nice coins.

If they are the 40% silver coins, you will have the built in value of the silver. Contrary to what folks usually think, there IS a premium on these coins. There were a lot less of the silver coins minted than the circulation coins. The premium is not a lot, (unless these are MS67 or better coins. THOSE carry a decent premium) but it is there.

If they are clad proofs, then they will have a premium over face, but not huge here either. Say 8 bucks or so for the Ike around PF67. Again, PF68 or 69 is going to have a higher premium.

If they are from mint sets and in good shape, the premiums will be more like 4 or 5 bucks for the Ike. Again higher MS68 or 69.

Simple uncirculated business strikes will have to be in that MS 68 or 69 range to have the same kind of premium.

Truly contrary to the statements above, even circulated Bicentennials can carry a small premium. Higher grade circs, like VF and up, can get a bit more than face. I have sold many a roll of Kennedy halves in that grade range for 15 bucks.

So yes, he could possibly make a bit of money. But it isn't going to be a whole lot.
