Picked this up at the gun show that was in town today. I hope I didn't pay too much for it. I still think it was an alright buy for the condition. Easily XF-AU. Serial:79840 Sorry for the bad photos.

do you mind telling what you paid? I can't see from your picture. I'm new to confederate currency myself but it looks pretty decent.

what's the serial number? there are lists of known fakes by serial number floating around.

as I said, I'm no expert, but this piece looks good. as long as you paid under 50 bucks for it, it seems fine.

I paid 60 for it. Serial:79840. It looks a lot better in person. The photos kinda take away from it some.

According to the Cuhaj book it appears to be a T-69 note. The bust is C.G. Memminger, a Confederate cabinet member. The building is the Virginia State Capital in Richmond. The notes indicate over 5 million were printed and also carries an additional mention that Abraham Lincoln was carrying one of these notes when he was assasinated. It's a little tough to be sure it's authentic from the photos and this note was one of the "Cheerios" note reproductions but usually the paper doesn't feel right on the reproductions. If it's real stiff and the paper is kind of wavy it's probably a repro but from the photo I'll take a guess that it's authentic. Cuhaj values are $15 in Good to $60 in Unc.

yea 60 isn't bad. you wouldn't make money trying to resell it, but 60 isn't a bad price. I got one for 35, but the condition on mine is much worse than yours.

I'm trying to put together a series of this 1864 printing, because the notes in the series look pretty good and can be had affordable.

I checked the bogus list and didn't see it on there and I bought it from a reputable dealer at the show. (Dealt with him before) I'll hang on to it for a while and maybe it'll appreciate!

I think I have a $10 note from the same series. I'll have to double check at some point. I may try starting to collect certain series.
