It has been sometime since there has been a new post in this forum, so I thought I would show a seldom seen note.

Japtan Island was used as a recreation area by the US Navy during OPeration Crossroads, the atomic experiments immediately after WWII. This note was used in the facilities there.

Never even heard of that one before. Pretty unique and awesome, I like the atoms at the bottom corners.

.....and for those who are wondering where the heck is Japtan Island it is a small island in the same chain of islands as Eniwetok Atoll. Both are in the Marshall Islands in the north Pacific.
Thanks, Lettow, for sharing this unusual note!

An excellent post, certainley new to me.
And I love the idea of "The Reacreation Paradise of the Pacific" being the site of atomic bomb tests!
What an oxymoron.

Great info. I had always been told that these were from Operation Crossroads which was 1946.

I have seen 5 or 6 of these notes over the years including this one and one I acquired earlier this year for another forum member.
