Hi,

I'm relatively new to the forum but see that there are a lot of US/Canadian collectors registered here, and with the War of 1812 bicentennial commemorations well underway I thought there may be some interest in this topic.

The Guernsey Mint have recently produced a four nines fine silver medallion commemorating the life and legacy of Major General Sir Isaac Brock, Hero of Upper Canada.

The medallion has been designed by the General's 1st cousin 6x removed, and is Minted on the island where General Brock was born and grew up.

Let me know if you'd like more information - I can post pictures etc is there's much interest.

Welcome to CCF! I'm guessing that "Olly" is short for Oliver and that you are the artist responsible for the Brock medal to which you are referring. Please excuse my presumption if I am wrong.

I had a look at the website that promotes the medal (http://isaacbrock.com/) â€" it is an attractive piece. I wish you the best regarding sales of the medal and support of The Brock Foundation.

I might have simply missed it, but is there a place on the website that describes the obverse and reverse designs? It would be nice to read additional details about the medal's design elements.

My only quibble is the website's use of the term "coin" when referring to the medals. It's inaccurate and could lead to confusion among some purchasers of the piece. Unless these pieces have "legal tender" status in Guernsey (or somewhere else, I suppose), they're not coins.

Hi, and thanks for the helpful feedback, both on this post and on the website content. As requested I have uploaded some pictures - hopefully they have come out all right and you can see some of the detail in the medallions. We'll be updating the website to correct some of the numismatic references, and also to give an overview of the design, from concept to completion, so that enthusiasts can understand how it all came to fruition.

The medallions are 999.9 fine silver and are 38mm diameter and 3mm thick, representing 1 troy ounce of silver bullion.

Thanks again for the interest, let me have your comments as you see fit please!
