Too nice, I've wanted one, but so many have dodgy coppers. You've found a treasured set! Congratulations. This is a coin set that we all have to bite the bullet on sooner rather than later. Just like the Goose dollar. The one coin I regret not buying. I could've brought one of them 3 years ago, but instead I brought a 1923 Halfpenny.

Well done Trout! CAMS rating: Original paintwork (not cleaned), mirror finish (proof), never pranged (uncirculated), old lady driver, genuine 5,000 miles on the clock. Upholstery (case) perfect. Port (drank) and polished (coins) heads (obverse). Solid (collection) lifters. Never taken out in the rain. Absolutely no rust (verdigris). Five stars!

Many years ago, I had a proof set just like this one. It was sold in a collection that helped raise the deposit for our first house. It would be worthwhile including a piece of clear acrylic plastic in the box to cover the coins. It just saves moisture from your breath affecting them. The plastic sheet can be cut from a shirt box. Sometimes, these coins can pick up an uneven dark, and not necessarily nice, patina.

I think that the mint packaging is just a presentation thing and the coins are far safer stored in the appropriate manners and are more aesthetically pleasing in an album

With the 1966 proof set, not a bad way to go. But what to do with the original display case? The RAM now individually encases it's proof coins, THEN puts them into a display case, perhaps best left alone.

If I kept all of my coins in the original packaging/cases I would have a major storage problem. I also like to see my coins in albums that are easily accessible . It's just the way I like to collect and store my coins. I buy my coins purely for my selfish pleasure and give very little though to the resale aspect of them.
