Is this an error coin. The redish toning is especially noticeable on the back of the coin. If this is an error coin, is it valuable? Is it worth grading? Any information on what this is would be great.

That's a picture of the back of the coin where it's most visible.

! Hope we can help!
If its just off color then no.. And no more valuable than one without toning..
But for an estimate on grading (which = value) And to determine if it is an error we definitley need photos...
But again, if its just off color then I'd have to say no, not an error.
Being that it is a 1961 Franklin half that means that it is 90% silver.. And over time silver has a tendiency to tone... Sometimes nicely (rainbow hues) sometimes not so nicely, lol (black/dull). And for value... No matter what grade it's still worth the weight of silver in it at the minimum which is $11.01 with silver at $30.44 (unless its changed since I last checked) but if it grades higher the price could go up a bit.
So without pics that's all I can say for now, but from what you described I'd have to guess no.
(Try using the image optimizer on the page to resize your photo and then save and upload it... Sometimes it's easier to crop it before you use the optimizer.. For me at least)

So ok, I checked the photo and I'm assuming you are just talking about the toning (color) so nope, not an error... Just silver tarnishing..
DO NOT CLEAN IT!! Lol... Never never never clean coins!! It would actually highly take away from the value!

That said... It does appear to be in pretty nice condition, so it could be worth above the melt value (silver value) but to determine grade we would definitely need some better pics of both sides of the coin, as sharp as you can.
You'll figure out the optimizer/upload on here soon.. It can be a bit tricky at times...
Again welcome! And as I mentioned it definitely appears to be a really nice Franklin and personally I'd love to see more pics!!
