Hi,
I'm new to this forum and so far it looks very promising. I'm glad I found it.
I collect Swiss Shooting Medals, (Schützenfest Medals). I primarily collect medals but I'm also interested in anything Swiss schüzenfest related such as; shooting cups, wappensheibe, postcards, posters, watches, and any other awards/memorabilia.
I would like to discuss Schützenfest Medals with anyone who shares my interest or would like to know more about schutzenfest medals/contests.
I hope to hear from some of you, I look forward to a dialog!

First of all...Welcome to this GREAT forum. I do not collect any medals, but I love to shoot. I collect guns as well. I am sure with all of our great members, there is someone here with the same interest. Do you have any pics of your medals. I would love to see them.

Hi,
I do have pictures and will likely post some probably around Sunday or early in the week. I have a busy weekend but will do my best. I would like to show you some examples!

Your Bern 1910 medal is from the 1910 Federal schützenfest. Engraved by Holy Freres, St. Imier 28mm In silver there were 6500 minted Gold: 400 minted There was guilded silver, silver brooch and bronze examples too.
In the old shootig medal bible it is identified by the number Martin #174 (M174) and in the new Shooting Medal Bible by Jurg Richter it is Richter 263.
It is a relatively common medal.

I have been collecting schützenfest medals since 1979 and my father since 1961. We work together in regards to growing the collection but my Father's personal collection is substantially larger than mine. Over the years our collection has grown to the point where 15 years ago we began to sell duplicates to fellow collectors.
If you have any questions or comments I would be glad to hear from you and I will also do my best to answer any of your questions.
Swiss Schützenfest medal collecting is a rather obscure division of numismatics but I feel that the medals are some of the most artistic of all medals and coins in the world.
