If you are talking about the date, yes, please provide closeups.
IMHO it looks like someone stamped in the 2010 after working over the fields. In that case it would be post mint damage.

Picture is kind of small to tell, but it could be damage from a coin counting/wrapping machine. Closer pictures of the date area might help to prove/disprove that theory....

Examined all my 2010 Grand Canyon quarters, there is definitely an extra " relief " rim around the device. I'l upload a pic of a standard quarter.  Edited by denco7

That second uploaded photo is not of my coin, but is good for comparison on what is different. There is a groove that is running outside of that inner rim and cuts right through the date. Where the circle should cut off to be straight, it continues to be a circle. I am not sure about damage from a coin counting machine. This groove runs almost exactly parallel to the inner groove. Sorry, I am a bit limited by the 100kb photo max. I will try for more pictures.  Thanks for the welcome! EDIT: Closeups    Edited by KilroyWuzHere

The lines not going through the date make it seem like it a planchet prep error.

That circular groove? It's just damage from a rolling or counting machine.

I can definitely see how it would be PMD from a counting or rolling machine, but the groove is just so perfectly parallel to that inner ring that I'm struggling to accept that it's a coincidence. Thanks for all the help everyone! |

What I don't understand is, if it is PMD then why does it not go through the date, why does it seem to have been made before the date was minted. |
