I only paid $35 for it and I don't think that you can tell from the pics but it has FSB. Numismedia list this coin going for $35 at MS 65 no "FSB".

Is it worth getting slabbed to see if it grades higher?

A '45 FSB is in the thousands. What are you talking about? Dang, get us some pics that show us, please.

benchfreak, it will help thew grading aspect if you would remove it from the flip and try to adjust the lighting to show the coin...$35 for a raw 1945-D FSB may be a few dollars too much, but not that much...if it is not pure FSB then its a big overpay for the date...but lets have a look...

If he picked it up in Okinawa locally, that might not be to bad. Last time I was there I didn't see a lot of local shops selling U.S. coins.

i can kinda tell the bands but you really need to post head on shots of the obverse and reverse for "true" grading. I am not a merc expert although I am only 11 short of an all AU/UNC set of the entire series. Based on that experience I can tell you the subtle differences that make an MS65 from an MS63 are just that, subtle. I don't think you can gather help assessing that without with better cam shots.

The coin may well grade MS65 or even MS66, but the images are very tough to interpret.

Quote: What is "FSB" Full Split Bands - You should keyword search this entire forum but for entry level explanation and ease of use: On the reverse of the Winged Liberty Head Dime, there are three distinct splits that can occur across the relief in the bands. If these are FULLY separated, the coin can receive the designation FSB which can increase the value. The holiest of all holy FSBs to find would be the 1945 Philadelphia Mint. You get one of those in MS state, and you've got WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!

I think it is getting it slabbed. You should get a MS65-MS66.
