Saved this from the spot (junk) silver bin at my LCS today. Obviously a big difference between XF and AU with this one. I'm leaning more toward XF, but I'm not too good at grading this series. I do notice that the photo really accentuated some hairlines on the obverse, so might have had a light cleaning once. The lines are barely visible with the naked eye. Opinions?

Looks like a solid AU to me, It does seem to lack any traces of luster that would go along with the grade. Maybe it's the photo? Is it better in hand?

My photography skills are awful; the coin looks WAY better in hand. If not for what appears to be loss of detail on the eagle's feathers and on Liberty's breast, many would call it BU. Did this year/mintmark have any weak strike issues?

They are typically weakly struck in the central parts of the design on the obverse and reverse. I remember reading that they attempted to improve this around the same time frame (1937) but had no success in any better strikes going forward.

It is at least AU, too bad about the cleaning. I like all the eagle breast feathers.

Agree with AU and as already mentioned appears lightly cleaned. Regarding the strike, this mentions a bit about the strike quality for this date and mintmark.
