half of me says NO and the other says Yes, no is winning because it would be a pain in the back side. I just wonder how much of this stuff I will see in a week or two....

You will see most of it back regardless of marking or not.

Marking is definitely worth it if you're using the same bank to pick up and to dump, but if you have a specific dump bank, then it may not be worth your time to mark.

I mark my rolls and explain to the tellers what I do. Most are very good about checking when I get rolls from them. I make it a habit of showing them cool things that I find so they understand that seeing the same rolls over and over is a waste of time. most of the time I get 10-20 rolls at a time with just occasional box purchases. All in all I think it works well for me.

I was actually thinking about marking the coins. I dump at a coinstar at the CU and have no idea where it goes, or how it comes back. I could very easily rig a machine that would put a mark on every coin with a sharpie. different colors and you could know when you last touched the coin.

Dont mark coins...its rude to the next guy that might need the coin for his collection and I'm sure he doesn't want a big mark on it. just sayin....

that's my thought too, since I don't checked for errors on all coins I may mark a coin that someone would be cursing it had a big old mark on it

I agree...if anything, put a mark on the roll wrapper. At least it protects the coins. I have opened up several rolls and there has been all different colors of markers down the sides of all the coins. Not very cool in my opinion. Someday, they'll be old and as coin collectors, we need to preserve potentially good coins.

It's almost like a fisherman who throws a fish back in for another angler to catch later...respecting the hobby/sport.

Just my 2 cents.

Dave

I don't roll my culled coin I drop it in a coinstar at the CU for no fee, but like I said I dropped my plan of marking the coins, if I were to have done it it would have been for a limited time like say a week or two to see if I am recycling my own coin.
