With recent posts asking about auctions and were they worth going to, I thought I would try a thread for auction goers (not ebay type auctions) to share their experiences.

I went to a local auction last night, started early and went way to long but near the end I purchased 6 Lincoln cents listed as 1911, 1912, 1916, 1918, 1913D and a 1916D. Everything was about VF-20 condition except the 1913D which was EF-40+. I had noticed that the 1913D was really an S and apparently no one else notice as I bought the bunch for $9.00 and a 10% buyers premium.

I have not had much luck at local Auctions as the kind of people who frequent them have no clue about coins and the auctioneers tend to hype the items. I have often thought I could make quite a good living selling off my junk at auctions but I cannot bring myself to do this. The last auction I went to commom date G4 Morgans were going for $15 to $20 plus buyers premium.
