Just thought I would let people know about a very positive experience I just had with Raz of Dirtyoldcoins.
Their website was experiencing problems with Shipping and I sent them an email telling them this.
Within a very short period of time I received an email from Raz sorting out my problems. As someone who is new to the hobby I sent him a return email asking him a few questions. He responded twice answering all my questions and then some.
I have heard from someone else in here that he has a good reputations and after my experience today with him I would have to agree. He went way above and beyond.
I'm not sure if this helps anyone , but I thought some people might want to know.

I've also had a very good experience with Dirty Old Coins and received some very decent coins at low cost.

Ras is a genuinely nice guy. He has spent a LOT of time over recent years working on ERIC and ERIC II, which are very nice books. I helped out a bit on a few sections of both books. Regards, Martin

I am in the same boat as you Hatter. I am a new collector and all of the questions you are asking are the ones I had meant to ask!

Whizb4ng I can forward you an email he sent me regarding starting out. I found it very informative.
I am waiting on some uncleaned coins and books to arrive.
When the coins arrive I'll take some pics and post them here.

That would be fantastic! Thank you very much. I am itching to buy a couple uncleaned coins to test it out but I am moving to a new apt in ~2 - 3 weeks so I am holding off. Though I highly doubt I will be able to hold off the entire time.
Edit: Also thank you for the welcome bobbyhelmet I have been hesitant to buy Roman Coins for a very long time but now that I have time to invest more research in them I decided to take the plunge.

You cant send PMs till about 50 posts I think, maybe a bit more - once you have have exchanged emails edit your post to remove it, the mods dont like them posted in an open forum
