I am in the market for the 1999 state silver quarters and would like to know if the mint released these quarters in their own set (similiar to what they do today) or if I need to purchase the entire silver proof set in order to get what I need?

Hello, Is this set exactly what you are trying to purchase by itself? I am unsure what you exactly mean by the entire silver proof set. mdpmedia

I believe only the clad '99 proof quarters were released separately. The only way to get silver proof quarters in '99 was in the complete 9 coin proof set.

The 9 coin Silver Proof Set was the only source for the 1999 silver quarters, the State Quarter Silver Proof Sets were not available until 2004.

From 1999 to 2003, the Mint sold Silver Proof Quarters only in the full two-lens Silver Proof Sets. That said, single lenses of the 1999 to 2003 Silver Proof Quarters (without box/COA) can be purchased on ebay, coin shows and even local coin shops. Example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261152466854/The 1999 will be the hardest to find as a single loose Silver Proof Quarters lens, and the highest-priced.

Thanks to all for the clear and concise answer. What I am looking for is the single lens that contains the 1999 and evidently now the 2001 State Quarter Silver Proof in order to complete my albums. If I had my choice I would purchase just the lens with the silver proof quarters, but if I'm forced I would purchase the whole kit and kaboodle.

This is a very good time to add to your silver State Quarters set. You might want to try buying these individually outside of the lenses. Starting in the late 90s, that lenses have been very easy to pry apart with an Exacto knife, and just as easily put back together again, so there's no guarantee that the coins in any lens are original and untouched. When I started building my silver sets two years ago, the '99 quarters easily trended between $35/$40 each so you can imagine what the entire silver proof set cost. Luckily for you, prices have dropped to half of what they were two years ago as the State Quarter craze has waned. You could probably get a set now for $75-$85 of the '99 quarters alone. The '01 is not difficult to find either and carries a slight premium over this year's silver quarter set, $45-$50.

If I assemble a Dansco 7146 with Silver Proofs, I would try to do it all from loose Quarters lenses or individual coins, but the '99's are the fly in the ointment there. Complete runs of 1999-2008 Silver Proof Quarters (in lenses or as individual coins) do occasionally show up on ebay and in shops.

Hi, I am trying to find out, how much the market might pay, for a Complete, 1999 through 2008 USA Quarter Proof set AND the Proof Sets of all the other US coins. BTW, the 1999 and 2004 are Silver sets. Any thoughts?

The 1999 - 2008 clad proof sets are worth about $35 a piece, just the quarters, less. The 1999 through 2008 silver proof sets are worth @$60 to $75 a piece, except for the 1999 set with was the 2nd lowest mintage (804,565) of all the silver sets, but the first with the State Quarter program ,the aftermarket had driven that set , for whatever reason, to over $100. 2008 was the lowest of the State Quarter program at 763,887. FYI .......2012 Silver Proof set.......a new low at 395,443
