SwamperBob and MathieuMa thanks for your offers. I will certainly keep you both in mind once I get far enough along in my organization. Just so you are both aware as far as Mexican coins go in my collection, the two coins in this thread are all of them. I have a huge number of other countries that I am plowing through with most of them having 10 coins or so. And I have to build up my account to the point that I can use the private message system to get in contact with people as well, so I have my work cut out for me.

Thanks again,
Chewy_27

Oh, I didn't knew private messages required a number of posts :)
Actually, I collect anything spanish from far or close (before 1834), and I like south american coins in general (it can be more recent, although I prefer the old ones).
And swamperbob anything fake :D

Happy sorting, don't hesitate to post what you have, we'll gladly look for informations about them - it's always interesting :)

Send pictures and I will provide a free opinion. Hope you have some interesting counterfeits. Those are really all I care about. (by swamperbob)

I agree with what swamperbob said and I really appreciated if chewy could post more about the pre-1982 collections.

Sorry wonghinghi I don't quite understand what you would like. If you would like more picture of that coin please tell me what you would like to see and I will do whatever I can to help.

Thanks

I want to see any coins that you don't understand and want to ask for questions. I really want to see an average American like your grandfather, what he did like to collect at his time. You know at that time there were no Chinese counterfeits so I would expect the majority of your grandfa's collection should be genuine even if he might not be a serious coin collectors. You said you want to liquidate the coins? Will you sell it on ebay or by any way? Henry

wonghinghi, I would love to show you some of the other coins. My grandfather was Canadian, so the majority of his collection was coins from Canada. I have a thread going in the Canadian Coin section that has a number of the different Canadian coins that I have found on my travels through his collection. Here is a link to that thread...

https://goccf.com/t/136161

I have also posted a German 2 Mark coin from 1906 in the General Coin forum as well under the new aquisistions thread. Maybe Germany is where I will go next with a new thread with those coins. Probably 20-30 or so coins total so maybe I will post a list and see if there are any coins in particular that people would be interested in seeing.

As for selling them ebay is an option, but I don't think in my case a very good option. With all of the fake coins out there on ebay and my lack of knowledge all together with the fact that I would have to start a new ebay account with no history/feedback I think that ebay would be more trouble than it is worth. I could take them to a coin shop somewhere in Southern Ontario but for me I am probably looking at a 6 hour drive to get to some kind of shop and even then it would be guesswork as to which shop would be a trustworthy one to bring them to. What I really hope is that over the next couple months here I make some contacts that might help me figure a way to get these coins into the hands of collectors directly. I really want to see these coins with people who really appreciate them and would enjoy the story that goes along with them.

Thanks again and look forward to a new thread with a different countries coins next.

Well, it seems I may have lied to you fine folks. As I have been sorting through the Canadian coins I stumbled upon this 1969 Mexican 5 Centavo. Certainly not an expensive coin by any stretch, but it certainly is a looker.
