I'm currently working on a One of Every Country collection. One country that seems to be tough to gauge is Turkey and the Ottoman Empire.
Krause guide only lists Turkish coins, but turkey was not its own country until 1923, before then it was part of the Ottoman Empire.
In your opinion, would coins prior to 1923 be considered Turkish, or Ottoman Empire coins?

Making a list for the OFEC list is not easy!

If it was minted pre 1923 then it is Ottoman-(mint). After 1923 it's Turkey. It wasn't the Turkish Republic (Turkey) until after Ataturk. Before that it was the Ottoman Empire which comprised much more than just Anatolia.

Personally, I would prefer that Krause file all "Ottoman Empire" countries (Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, etc) under "Ottoman Empire", then subcategorize them in much the same way as Krause does for the Chinese provinces. Although, at least as far as the 1800s-1900s is concerned, classifying the "Ottoman Empire" as a single unified country would not reflect the reality on the ground at the time.

The current layout in Krause is a remnant of their old system, where they filed all coins issued in a region under the name of the modern country controlling that region (Netherlands East Indies coins would be filed under "Indonesia", for example). They are gradually shifting to a more sensible "File it under the name that actually appears on the coins" system, but they haven't reorganized the Ottoman coins yet.

I completely agree Sap.
If it says that country on the coin, then it should be listed that way in the Krause.
It does get confusing with the German States, Chinese multiple crazy states, but it makes sense overall.
